I lent a friend 5 dollars and he died in a car wreck last week without paying it back. Can I ask his mom for my 5 bucks?

I would say, No. One, the mother is in enough sadness that you asking for money (namely just $5) would not help. If you absolutely needed the $5 back, then I'd wait a while before bringing it up.

But if you think about it, $5. That pays for what? One lunch?? You can go without lunch for one day, can't you? In the long run you'd be wasting $5 on so many things you don't realize, that the $5 you lost to a friend really wouldn't matter.

Maybe now it seems like a lot, but trully, it's not.

Put yourself in her shoes (as best you can). Your child just died. You have to pay funeral costs, have emotional distress, have to deal with people, ask youself why did this happen to my child .... and the list goes on.

How would you feel being that mother and some friend of the child you lost asks you for money???? It's not the mother who borrowed the money from you anyway... she had nothing to do with it (i assume) so, count it as lost.

I wouldn't ask her personally five bucks is no big deaal think of all the mental anguish the mother is going through who knows if you did she might say you were a lousy friend or something like that even if you weren't do not mess with distressed mothers that's bad news

Oh, for Pete's sake, you can't possibly be seriously considering this!! To do so would only show you to be a rude and inconsiderate person. Not to mention how much of a friend you WEREN'T.

If you're in such dire straits that $5.00 means that much to you, perhaps a job could help.

That would be so rude. Count it as a loss. I hope you are joking. Are you just trying to see how pissed off people can get by asking that question? If you are serious, my apologies, but seriously do not ask for that money. What is $5.00? Count it as a loss buddy.

ABSOLUTELY NOT it's only $5 bucks. What is more important to you $5 or respect for your friend's familiy in their time of greiving. How inconsiderate for you to even think about it.

You should be grieving over your friends death, not worrying about 5 bucks

You have to be kidding....

This is not the mother's responsibility. Also it would be quite tactless to distress the mother further...

Here is a hint for you. How would you feel if this request was asked of you?....

You're not serious.. NO! That is beyond rude.. The one who died owed you the money, maybe you can collect when you next see him .
