Okay so I have a one year old son and his father lives in the same town as me in Connecticut but his the majority of his family live in Philly, PA. We were together when I told him that he could take our son out there to visit...now we aren't and I cannot change my answer. I trust that he will not let anything happen to our son but I am still really nervous. Is letting him go to meet his family that he's never seen (without me) the right thing to do???

I dont see a problem letting him go. Just make sure that you and dad have an open line of communication. Express to him your concerns about not being there with your son. Explain to him that you trust him as a father, but this being your sons first extended trip away from you makes you nervous. See if you guys could set up a time each night that you three check in. Nothing too long, just a short phone call saying, "Hey, were okay" and putting your lil one on the phone so you can hear him and vice versa. That way you have piece of mind knowing that he is safe and your son can hear you too. It'll let Dad know you trust him and, in the future, if the shoe is on the other foot Dad will understand. Also, I would express to his mother your concerns as well, she's a mom and should be able to understand what your feeling.

to meet his family, yes. Without you, only is your comfortable.

If you cant handle being there with them, then you shouldnt go. His father loves him iam sure. I would call his mom and jsut let her know you're concern. You two should be on decent terms anyway, she's your sons gramma, and the mother of the man who gave you that son.

Personally I would want to go as well, and stay at a hotel and let the father take the son during the day. BUt thats just me.

The answer to your question depends on the relationship you have with your son's father. Is it a good one? Do you know his family? Has he ever said he would take the child and run? If you are questioning it now my answer would be to go with or do not allow your son to go. Good luck.......

This is a hard one. Who has custody of this child? Do u trust him to come back with your son? Can you talk to his family?
