2? 5? 10? However many you feel write it I'm really wondering what others think is a **shocking** number. How do you detirmine a promiscuous person?

There is no magic number...
A person who is 80 could have 50 partners over a lifetime and not be promiscuous while someone else could have 4 in the same lifetime and be considered promiscuous...
I believe it's not the number but how a person conducts themselves that makes a person promiscuous... If someone speaks of nothing but sex and having sex and how good the sex was even if it's with just one person they will appear to be promiscuous, however if someone conducts thier love affairs quietly and with decorum and has 15 partners they would not be thought of as promiscuous...
I would say a shocking number would be 1,000 partners in a lifetime... but I would also find it shocking to hear endless details about one partner if that's all a person was able to talk about..
Promiscity is a relative term there is no set number of partners that is the cut off for being promiscuous....
Yup I will tell you in my lifetime I have had 22 partners but I have conducted my love affairs quietly and with decorum and never be labeled promiscuous because I never felt the need to tell others about my affairs and never felt the need to show overly ambitious displays of public affection, a kiss or holding hands is fine .. I however, never felt the need to ride my partner like a prized pony at the mall as many other people I know and have seen do... It's the decorum thing..

It depends on the period of time, if someone say has had 5 partners over 3 years I would not consider them promiscuous, but 5 people in 3 months would be

depends on the length of time i mean i have had 6 i started when iwas 14.. i am now 27 someone who has had alot in a few months or 20 in 2 years.. yes they are promiscuous

Wow- I'm shocked at some of the numbers above me and they don't find that to be promiscuous!
I'm embarrassed to say that I've has 2! I was 19 when I lost my virginity to my fiance' but that relationship later failed. My husband was the next and only one besides the fiance'.

first off why worry about that? its just a number. why worry about what other ppl think about how many sexual partners you have had or not had. as long as you dont regret what you have done. some ppl think you should only be with one person your whole life and others think differently. as long as you are using protection you do what you feel is right.
but just think you met the one you will be with for the rest of your life. you get married, but then down the road divorce. what are you supposed to not have sex anymore or must marry again to have sex. life is life dont worry about what others think.
if you are that worried, keep your sex life to yourself.

30 or more. It took me ten to get to the right one. I say someone who is promiscuous is when you have sex for fun > no real meaning for it except for your sexual pleasure. When safe sex is used then there is no promiscuous really because u never get sick or pregnant and no one really knows about your business.
Promiscuous is merely determined by the person and their personal opinion of what that is?
