try to hang out with him a little more try to make him see what a great girl you are and that hes wasting his time without you.

Why would you want him?? If you are interested in the conquest, the best way is to be truthful about it to yourself so you are not emotionally attached to the outcome. Then find out what he likes to do, what he likes about the other person, observe how he looks at/watches people. Then just use that information to make yourself seen by him.
