he was diagnosed in kindergarten and is now in grade 10 his specialist has recently changed his medication in hopes of helping him focus better in school and have more ambition the new medication is very expensive and not covered under my disability.

We are going to see if the Child Mental Health Department can help with the cost.

If you can't get what they call Prior Approval (which means your son's doctor provides in writing why he wants your son on this particular medication - especially if other medications have been tried and have not worked) sometimes, the insurance will reconsider and cover it.
If this can't be done, then contact the drug company who makes the medication and see if they have an assistance program - many do.

Have you tried applying for medicaid? Go through your local Department of Health. Also, I have ordered many of my drugs through Canadian pharmacies. The price cut is drastic and well worth the little bit of time to fax your prescriptions in.

Does he have any health insurance of his own? If so, that's the place to check. If not, then you can probably sign him up under your state's CHIP program (Children's Health Insurance Program).

Contact the drug company that makes his medicine. Many drug company have drug assistance programs for people who can not afford their medication.
