Hey all Nissan experts,
I need to know how to reset Service Engine Soon light in my 2000 Nissan Frontier. It's been on for long time. Truck runs fine. How do I make it go away???? Truck has 100k miles.

When a check engine light turns on, it means one of the sensors has been tripped. If one of the sensors has been tripped, something is not right.
I would suggest taking it to a dealer or an Autozone, and they can tell you (using engine diagnostic computers) what it is that is wrong with your car. Then you can get it fixed. Once the problem is fixed, the mechanic will reset the check engine light.
If you have fixed the problem yourself, and the check engine light is still on, carefully disconnect your battery and leave it disconnected for 5 to 10 minutes. Connect it back up, and the ECU should have reset. Start your car, and the check engine light should not be on. If there is something wrong with the engine, though, it will come back on.

If the code is bad clearing it won't make it stay off. write down the code and freeze frame information.. when a auto parts store clears it. You need a special OBD2 scanner tool to read and clear codes. Then let us know I have worked for Nissan 10 years and should be able to driect you from experence what to fix. Just a guess P0400 egr function code

Remove the light bulb or put tape over it
