Get her a pet fountain or a bubbler. Some cats like fresh running water. Keep the lid down on the toilet.

I actually put fresh filtered water in my cats dish several times a day and only 1 of 4 drinks out of it. The others look for dripping faucets or the toilet. One of them seem to think the water dish is a finger bowl as she regularly splashes her paws in it and then walks away. I gave up trying to figure them out . They are very attractive aliens.

Many pets like the sensation of running water. A toilet is replenished very often and so a cat may think it is fresh. There are products out there that simulate a running water effect. You might try getting a porcelain bowl as well. Cats are very particular, and it may seem disgusting, but she may not know that is where you do your business. She may just think its a giant water bowl.

Keep the seat down! My cat did this too. There are chemicals as well as residual poo in there. Also, when you flush, some water sprays out - including whatever is in there. Don't believe me? Put some blue food coloring in there then cover the seat area with TP and flush. You'll see blue on the paper. I bet you keep your toothbrush in that same room don't you.
If you can afford one, buy your cat one of those fountains. They love cool, fresh running water.

My cat does the same thing and it grosses me out! I put a bowl in the tub and turn it on once in a while to freshen it up and leave my toilet seat down after use.

its probably that the chlorine has evaporated out of the toilet and the fresh water you give your cat has a lot of chlorine in it if you are getting it out if the faucet. let the water stand for 24 hrs and the cat will probably drink it

she is probably just curious. when i first got my cat, it drank from th toilet and would always sit oon the edge and look inside. so, i flushed the toilet and he wasn't afraid or anything, he just looked inside for a few minutes and lost interest in the toilet. he hasn't done it since.

Close the toilet lid! Unhealthy. I guess she likes to still scavenge for the water. Get her catnip.
