The adult tapeworm lives in the small intestine of the dog or cat. It is hooked onto the intestinal wall by a structure called a rostellum which is sort of like a hat with hooks on it. The tapeworm also has six rows of teeth to grab on with. Most people are confused about the size of a tapeworm because they only see its segments which are small; the entire tapeworm is usually 6 inches or more. because it looks like a flat tape it gets the name tapeworm. hope this clears your doubt

According to my vet, they look like sunflower seeds. They asked me yesterday if one of my dogs ate sunflower seeds (which I think did happen, as my brother-in-law was in town and he loves the seeds and ALWAYS feeds my dogs!). The vet's asst. thought the (partially digested) seeds were tapeworms (like a grain of rice, only yellowed) until she found a whole seed in the sample.

No more vet visits right after brother-in-law visits!

The segments of a tapeworm are passed in feces. They are about the size of a gourd or pumkin seed.
