I am currently a freshman in college, and I want to become a medical doctor. I want to be in the Air Force as a doctor and was wondering what the best way would be to achieve that goal. Thanks for your time.

in order to be commissioned as a medical Professional(Doctor, Nurse), you must have completed all of your schooling and done your interniship. While there are programs in place that allow you to be paid by the military while in school, you will owe them at least as many years as it takes to get your MD, and possibly more. These programs are also EXTREMELY hard to get into, as they only accept a few people each year.

your best bet is to speak to an Officer recruiter to see what your chances are of being picked up as a student, or if you need to consider other options.

In addition to talking to the Air Force, I would visit your campus counseling center and look at the other alternative of completing you medical training and then joining the Air Force. This might not be an option if you need for the government to pay, but again counseling center would give you more options to consider.

Talk to an Air Force recruiter, and see if you can get them to pay for your medical education, in exchange for say a stint in the Air Force. I think some branches of the armed forces are doing this already.

talk to an Air Force recruiter now. The Air Force has programs where they will pay for your education in return for service in the Air Force.

I agree that you need to talk to your recruiter. Chances are he/she knows of programs in place to help you pay for your education. ROTC will also help. Talk with them first so that they can keep you on the right track and you don't make a bunch of deicisions that amount to nothing later.

Congrats on your decisions. We need more doctors in the Air Force! Just please remember that motrin does not solve all problems (you'll see what I'm talking about later). :-)

Go talk to an Air Force recruiter and see if they offer any programs where they might actually pay your tuition. Also check with your college for ROTC programs, etc.
That's an excellent idea you have.
Good Luck!!

Study hard. If you have Air Force ROTC, that would not hurt.
