They're a pain in the butt to put up, and even more so to take down.

My family has scaled way back on Halloween decorations. In fact, right now the only thing remotely connected to Halloween in the house this year is a plain pumpkin. I will probably carve it or use a permanent magic marker to make some kind of face on it. I do have a Halloween fabric remnant with cats (and only cats) on it to use to cover cookies for a couple of people. I have a friend who runs a haunted house in northern Utah to earn money for a charity, and I admire his initiative and dedication to that project, as it not only serves handicapped students but also employs several adults with special needs. Personally, I look at Halloween as a teaching tool to remind us what life might be like without the Savior's Atonement. So I do not "celebrate" it in the sense of getting all excited about it, but I have fun with the candy and costume contests and the lighter side of it.
I love Christmas lights, but our family has never really been able to afford the extra electricity to put any up outside. We do a small tree with lights every year, and we love going to the Festival of Trees hosted by the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. I think Christmas lights symbolize Jesus Christ as the Light of the World, and I think being surrounded by lights reminds me of what God's House must be like.

I have decorations for both, mainly Halloween - Althought it is Samhain and Yule for me. For Yule I have lights, trees, even reindeer, but no nativity, crosses or the sort and nobody notices the difference.

I don't do Halloween, but I have a large light up nativity set I put out every year. I usually go look at lights, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Holiday decorations are a tradition that I have become accustomed to over the years. They do not offend me in any way and I think they are fun for the children.

Lights and decorations are fine with me. Sales in October for Christmas and carols everywhere for a month drive me nuts.

BTW: I Jewish.

I happen to like both of them even though I'm not religious. I will continue with the spirit of things, just not on a religious note.

They're pretty. People don't like it when I leave the decorations up year-round. =(

I don't think I have any particular religous beliefs about them.

I know culturally, and personally - I like them, but that's about it.

I participate, in moderation. It's fun for my son to help me with.
