Well that is horribly cruel. Cat's whiskers are very sensitive and do have a lot to do with balance. I do not know if they will fall over over lack of balance but they probably will because they will be in pain. Whiskers are like feelers. They are as long as the cat is wide and when a cat sticks it's head in something if the whiskers cannot fit then the cat knows he will not fit. Whiskers are very important to a cat and I strongly suggest you do not cut them off.

It might not fall over, but will affect the cat balance-wise. It's probably like when a person has an inner-ear infection and can't quite feel balanced. So, please don't do it, that would be mean. Also, the idea that there are nerves in the whiskers is a myth - there are sensitive nerves in the skin that whiskers are connected to, but the whiskers themselves are just hair, no nerves.

He won't fall over, but he may bump into things are generally seem a little confused. Cats use their whiskers to sense distance and movement; for example, the cat will use his whiskers to judge whether or not he can fit into a small opening.

That's so stupid. A cat needs its whiskers for balance as well as sensing whether he or she can fit into any tight space when they need to hide or be alone. Never cut a cat's whiskers for any reason!

Think of it this way; You are in a DARK room and you feel your way around with arms/fingers outstreched...just like a cats whiskers. You can trim them, BUT not more then half thier length.

So you want your cat to come up to you with scissors and cut off your earlobes and eyelashes and nose tip to see if you fall over?
Treat the cat as you want to be treated. Friendship, trust.

Cats groom themselves so don't bother. I have a 2 year old calico and an 18 year old gramma kitty and they both groom each other and themself. Yes it is a myth.
