The Heimlich is used when an object is stuck in an airway, not for swallowing water or drowning victims. I wouldn't beat her hard back, either. If she swallowed water some may have gotten down the wrong pipe which is causing choking or gagging. She'll be o.k. Always try to remain calm, however. If you panic, she'll panic and make things worse. I'd check a first aid reference as I don't know if holding her upside down for a bit would help drain any water out of her.

Thats kinda weird that you gag when you drink water. You might want to try slowing down when you drink it. It could be possible that you don't like the taste of water so add a little flavor to it or go to the store and get flavor water im sure it won't do any thing to the medication.

Maybe your body is not craving to be hydrated. Try warmed water like you are having tea. Drink the water within 30 minutes of taking the meds. You should be able to get three gulps down at a time. Add a drop of vanilla. Maybe you seek a flavor and reject the liquid because you do not taste it. Also, tell your doctor about your dilemma and tell him/her what solutions you are going to try. Call his nurse for an immediate response. Decide now and call now so no moretime is wasted and you can get well as soon as possible.

How do you drink water on a daily basis if you have problem swallowing water after popping a pill? Hmmm.If you can find something that would not interfere with your medication, then I say, drink that.
I hope you feel better soon.

Try either iced tea (it's mostly water), or fizzy water like Perrier or club soda. I can barely drink plain water too.
