What made you first start frequenting the Yahoo! Answers Religion and Spirituality Section?
Personally, I was already addicted to Yahoo! Answers when I started frequenting this section. I used to not look at particular sections but answer whatever looked interesting. I then found that the Religious and Spiritual questions interested me and that this section had a lot more thought provoking questions than other sections - not to mention some good laughs.
What's your story?

I also must add that it was Jim_Darwin's questions that intrigued at first as well.

There were A LOT of really great answers to this question. I can't pick which one was the best because I was really interested to read everyone's story about how they wound up here.
No matter how everyone wound up here and what religious affiliation they come from - I'm glad we/you all wound up here.
I'm going to leave the choosing of the best answer up to you guys and put it up to a vote.

I actually came across this section by accident...
I responded to a creationist question with my atheist background and got flooded with hate emails.
I've been fighting the good fight ever since...
as a perk, I've also made some good contact through this section, Katy, the recently retired JellyBean, Selnyk, Southpaw, devlsadvoct and many many more...

I've always been interested in Religion, morals, philosophy and ethics. So this section really appealed to me.
I only joined a few days ago, but have found this place to be interesting, to say the least. There is a lot of ignorance around here, and I am by no means saying that I am all knowing...Wouldn't be here if I was. But I like to spread what I do know, and am glad to help people out with their religions or moral questions.
At the same time I get my own question's answered, and am able to look at things from all sorts of different points of veiw. You get them all on here, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Wiccans, Pagans, Scientologists, Jews...The list goes on and on.
I answer other types of question's from time to time, but there is where I feel I can participate the most. Also sometimes it's really helarious to see what some people ask and answer...Other times it's heart breaking.

Religion is a very dangerous thing, due to the fact that we're no longer fighting over "god" with swords, shields, or even guns, for the most part.
The fighting over god is now carried out predominantly with weapons of mass destruction. And the targets of these weapons are typically people that have nothing to do with the conflict at all.
And that scares the piss out of me. I've made it one of my personal quests in life to spread the truth about religion, to anyone that I'm able to. I try to do my part to help eliminate the ignorance and fear that creates mindless believers. (Which in turn, have the ability to become fanatical foot-soldiers)
I discovered YA one day while doing a search for a tech question, then stumbled onto the religion section. This is the best vehicle I've found to reach people thus far, having tried a variety of religious forums in the past.

I pretty much agree. I am a scientist, and it is fundamental to the doing of science to subject any theory to the most rigorous criticism possible in order to weed out erroneous ideas. If a theory survives such tests, it may become "established", that is, put into routine use by people who need to make predictions. (If the predictions could hazard life and limb if erroneous, this is particularly important.) I would be interested in any religious theory which can withstand such scrutiny; so far, I haven't found one that even comes close.

I stayed in sports for a while. Then I answered one of Jim Darwin's many questions and found the R+S section to be a much more lively place...
...and a place where people didn't think the Raiders were going to do well this season, that was pissing me off. I told them all they were going to be horrible, look who was right.
I've been back and forth lately though...the reporting has sucked R+S section dry, well in fact all of Y!A dry. Things just ain't what they used to be.

My husband pointed out the existence of Yahoo! answers to me and after one visit I was hooked. I started out in the Alternative Medicine section but soon just gravitated over this way. Now I have become comfortable in R/S section. I love an assortment of odd characters in one place. That is my idea of fun!

About the same for me. I started asking a couple of random questions, then some of the answers made me follow the people who gave them to this section, where I have been ever since. This is the most fun spot in YA, for me and my buds.

Part of my development into atheism when I was younger was me asking questions about things I was told that just didn't seem right to me. Questions led to arguement, which led to more questions. I got very analytical, and better and forming questions. I often will have in depth conversations with religious folks regarding their beliefs. This forum is perfect for having those conversations with people whom I don't know. Every now and then, I get an enlightening conversation out of it.

The questions were more thought provoking, and it was interesting to see how someone rather than myself perceived their faith, or lack of one. The atheists in this section to me are the most intriguing, because they are decent caring people who use this forum as a means of connecting with others in a negative way or positive. I felt great love from many of the regulars such as spooky, whom I consider to be honest, mav who is so loving, darwin,or kirk who has infinite questions, and compassion for others, jibba jabba, who makes me laugh, the wsidr who uses ridiculous undertones to convey his point, black acre who respects everyone, pangel whom always answers questions with the intent of love aurora, also does the same.
I cant wait to see their avatars and know they are right here with me sharing the experience, and it warms my heart.
I wish you well.

Same story here. I found that about half the time when I clicked on a topic I found interesting, it was in this section. So now I just come here first.
