Does your 'lover' want to experiment on YOU with vegetables or have you experiment on him or her with vegetables?
If you're 'lover' wants you to use vegetables on him/her I say go for it! On the other hand... I think I'd slam shut if you're gonna be the 'catcher'! You're a guy, right?

Just the fact that within your post you state:
"scared, uneasy, worried, crying"
To me that says no with a capital "N"
It may not be a big thing for some people, but you are obviously very uncomfortable with the idea. Your partner should be just as willing to accept your answer to this as you were expected by them to be open to thinking about it.

I wouldn't worry so much.
It's natural to be interested in how things feel sexually. If you're not comfortable with it, then you have the right to tell your lover that it is not something you're ready to do right now, but you are not afraid or put off by them, it is just not something you're interested in doing right now.
Ask them to explain to you the interest they have, and perhaps you may begin to understand it and eventually want to experience this experiment with your lover together, but don't put pressure on yourself to do this if it's not comfortable for you.
If they care about you and want you to feel comfortable then they'll inderstand and not pressure you.
Something that sometimes helps to loosen our inhibitions is to take the process a little more slowly. Start by talking about your fantasies and the things you find attractive, and ask your lover to do the same. You'll be more intune with their wants and needs, and they'll be more intune with yours

It's not such a big deal experimenting with vegetables these days. My Grandfather spent most of his life experimenting with different fertilisers for his turnips. We always had the best turnips for Christmas dinner - yum! He also produced pretty tasty cabbages...........oh hang on, you're not talking about growing or eating veges are you?! Oops I thought I was in the gardening section............

Experiment with vegetables? I assume that you don't mean putting carrots in his pudding? If he means in you... hell no! There are better things to put inside of a woman than an eggplant.
