OH MY yes u need to put on some healthy weight...nothing wrong with working out now...but you need to at least eat 6 small meals a day containing a combo of protein, carbs, and veggies...no sugar. Then start by doing cardio 3 times a week and weight training 3 times a week. Include protein shakes...ie Whey protein daily even weight gainers...these are just good for you, do not harm the body..

You need to at least gain 30 lbs of muscle for your height.

not necessarily. but check with your doc first to make sure there is no medical condition that is affecting your weight gain.start training but do it slowly and do add to your diet. also there are lots of shakes, powders etc. like creatine (most doctors agree it doesn't cause problems unless you put on weight very quickly) that will help bulk up. one thing is you need the protein to power the muscles up but you also need carbs and such for other nutritional needs. just keep it balanced and take care of your body now so it can take care of you when you're older. seriously, consider talking to your doc about the problem with gaining weight, it might be a thyroid condition or he can suggest other ways for you to put it on.

First of all it is good to hear that you will start pumping iron...

No..., not really... Maybe what they were trying to say is that you need more protein because that's what you need to build muscle... but that all depends on what your goals are... If you starting out..., unless you are a veggan..., your diet should have enough protein in it... If you stick with it for a long period of time..., you may need to take a protein supplement such as whey or soy protein powder down the road...

Good Luck!!!

Yes...you should concentrate on a good balanced diet with high carbs and protein, no junk. See a trainer at a local gym. They usually offer one week free for new customers and he can tell you what you need to do.

Men need about 2,000 cals a day and women 1200 a day...if u don't eat the body thinks u are starving and will hang on to the fat. so u must eat enough so that your body is able to increase the metabolism in order to burn calories....

TRY EATING A HIGH PROTEIN DIET. PROTEIN HELPS REBUILD MUSCLE. I WOULD EAT A LITTLE MORE. IF YOU JUST EAT A HIGH PROTEIN DIET YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE LOW BODY FAT AND BE OVERLY TONED. DO IN MODERATION TOO. TOO MUCH PROTEIN CAN HARM YOUR LIVER AND KIDNEYS. MAKE SURE YOU DRINK OVER 8 GLASS OF WATER TOO WITH THE PROTEIN. MAKE SURE YOU EAT THE GOOD FATS, CARBS, PROTEIN, AND MULTIVITAMIN.

your best bet is to speak to the trainers at the fitness center or gym where you are going to work out.
