Not sure I understand your question exactly, but if you owe the dealership for a car and you sell it and transfer the title, the dealership probably doesn't want the car back, but you are still responsible for the loan. If you used the car as collateral, they can sue for the legal debt, and you're obligated to pay, without regard to collateral.

the quick answer is particular, they might legally sell the vehicle. maximum sellers do no longer carry the titles for their autos. The financial corporation does. very few autos sitting on a dealership lot are offered and paid for via the broking previously they're bought. they're on loan from the producer or the financial corporation is keeping the call to autos they get from the standard public sale.

You can have the title but the dealership has a lein on the car until its paid for. If you aren't making the payments, they can take the car.

nothing unless the title has a lien on it. if no lien holder is on the title of the vehicle in question, by law they cannot do anything about it, because its their error and lawfully the person that is in possion of the title and their name is the only on it, they rightfully own the vehicle.

that happened to a friend of mine, I think the only payment he made was a down payment, he sold the car and told them to go find it if they wanted it.
