Yes the Navy can shoot missiles coming at any of the ships down with an anti missile defense system that is a 6 barrel gattling gun (CIWS stands for close in weapon system) or anti missile missiles such as the RAM (Rolling Airframe Missile), some missiles go over the speed of sound (= mach 1 or about 1600 miles per hour at sea level so mach 3 would be about 4800 miles per hour and can cover several miles in a very short time), CIWS can shoot at a rate of fire of 4500+ rounds per minute and is very effective being able to track even it's own 20mm bullets so that if it is off at all it will automatically correct itself

& don't listen to Gary, these systems can shoot down more than just a few missiles, even if the missiles coming in were shot from multiple directions all at once, especially when the defensive weapons are used together. The ship I was on had 2 CIWS guns and over 40 antimissiles that it could use all at once and it's easy to reload the guns if it was ever needed.

Missile from the North Koreans, Iran, Pakistan, India- maybe.
Missile from Russia or China-Nope.
The defense would be by using another missile to hit the incoming one.Like a bullet stopping another bullet.
The time would be very short -the missile would be detected when it was launched and it would be destroyed within the 7-15 minute time it takes to reach the US.
The Russians and probably the Chinese have now built new missiles to avoid exactly this defense however.Their missiles cannot be stopped.

If your talking about attacks on ships they are well protected by layers of defense sam's then chaff then CIWS and RAM. If your talking about ICBM's we have an interceptor missile still in it's trials phase but has shown some promise. Currently if the system works we could shoot down a few missile then we would be out of shots. If your talking about short range ballistic missiles like Scud's we don't really have a effective system all we have is the patriot system and by the time it engages it's over the target and falls into it's target anyway unless it detonates. There are systems in development but they are not ready for prime time. Times vary depending on what system is being used.

We have missiles that can shoot down other missiles remember the Patriot and scud missiles from desert storm). We now have a plane that can shoot a laser and destroy a missile in flight. I don't think it is in service yet but maybe soon

You mean you don't remember the Scuds and Patriot Missile Defense System used in Desert Storm

depends: Who is us, who and where is the enemy and what type of missile? I could presume you're a US citizen, but then the list of "enemies" is too long to even harbor a guess. You should add details to your question, so that you don't get an ambiguous answer.

We could maybe intercept 1 or a few, but if there were more incoming missiles, most would get through.

I can't say yes for sure, but I would imagine that our technology is that great. If we were tinkering with this notion under Reagan 20 years ago I would think we are a lot closer now.

If you're talking about North Korea I think it's 5 minutes. That's what I heard. And yes, it can be stopped.
