A friend is pressuring me to take the train because "it would be good for me", but I live real close to work, I think it would take more time to metro in than driving my car.

I am a single Mother of two, with time restrictions.

Don't go out your way to meet that special someone, they will come to you. When you go looking especially going out your way like you will. You'll be catching that train for years and still haven't met anyone. Just let it happen, it will when it's right

The more people you come into contact with the higher the probability of finding someone (law of averages). No-one who ever spent their entire life in a box ever met anyone.

So you should delegate time for meeting people and catching the train, going to the gym, grocery shopping or whatever else might not be such a bad idea. Even if it's just once or twice a week (you could even mix the days up each week to get an even wider circle going).

Good luck!

Every day on the metro is exactly the same: a packed train car where everyone is reading or listening to their ipods. There are hundreds of people within inches of each other and it is usually complete silence. Not the most conducive environment for meeting people unfortunately..

Tell her you appreciate her trying to help and to not be offended when you say I'll let you live your life the way you'd like and I'll live my life they way I would like. Besides if it is ment to happen it will happen, it doesn't matter if you will be riding the train or not, besides that you are hoping to meet a man that has his own transportation and seeking a man on the train will not provide you with your quest. There are a lot of crazy's on the train and talking to them to try to get a date doesn't sound too safe to me.

that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, drive your car and meet someone special online or at a bar, also your friends friends are always a good catch.
