Count calories and eat no more than 1000 a day. Take a multi-vitamin and do cardio such as running or swimming for 30-45min a day. You will be fit and feel better in no time. Seriously, it's that easy. I've been working out my entire life. it takes very little effort to be relatively fit. Once you've lost the weight you wanted to lose, gradually increase your caloric intake until you level off at a weight you want to be.

Go see a dietician. Ask to go onto a fluid only diet for up to two weeks. Your body will go into ketosis after about three days and start burning stored fat. Give it another 3 or 4 days, then start exercising lightly every day (this will increase your metabolism and burn fat faster): walk briskly or jog lightly on a treadmill or an eliptical strider to reduce impact on your joints. Also do some light weights as these will release beta endorphins into your body and counteract the irritability you feel when your body goes into ketosis. Take a South African hunger suppressant called Hoodia. It's derived from a cactus and is used by south african tribesmen when times are lean and food is scarce. You can probably find it in GNC. DON"T touch any supplements with ephedrine in them; people have died from heart attacks while using that stuff.
Make sure your dietician/nutritionist monitors you every other day or so.
If you can spare the cash, fly to thailand and go to one of the Spas on Koh Samui, Koh Chang or Chang Mai. The serene, natural surroundings are ideal to keep you feeling relaxed and unstressed. Stress contibutes to fat storage for some unknown reason (something to do with the fight or flight reaction of the body I think, but I'm not exactly sure about this point).
In addition to the fluid only diet (five specially designed daily drinks to provide all the vitamins & minerals you'll need), drink lots of water to help flush out your kidneys. And now the nasty bit. If you're on a fasting program at a spa, the doctor at the spa recommends you self-administer colonic flushing/irrigation (enemas). Sounds unpleasant but apparently it works. I hear Madonna does it as part of her fitness regime.
I know someone who lost 8kg in two weeks at a spa on Koh Samui.
Do a search online under SpaSamui. Ask what is involved in a cleansing program as you are thinking of doing one. They should be able to provide you with more precise details.

Loosing weight might you healthier, if you are really over weight, but not necessarily sexier. There is more to being "sexier" than just being thin.
To lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume. There are many good diet plans on web sites like Web MD etc. One good way is just to eat less and exercise more.

Yes, modify the "cabbage soup diet" so that it is slightly healthier than recommended. For example: Do the diet the way they recommend, but allow yourself a bran muffin and yogurt for breakfast each morning and some meat at dinner, and do the rest of your food each day the way the diet recommends.

eat less, forget sugar, bread etc but
don't become the kind of person that counts calories when faced with a chocolate body paint set brought home by their partner :)
