Evolution by means of natural selection provides the only model that can account for it-they were, and are because the process is ongoing-species that proved unable to adapt and evolve in order to survive. That one fact destroys the argument for intelligent design.

Yes and look how long they existed before they were destroyed. Man has been here a very short period of time compared to that and looks like we won't be for long if we keep going the way we are. If this was indeed a God and He destroyed them because of their sinful natures, and if we have gotten to that point sooner, then maybe we should view it as a warning, straighten up and fly right or he will dis troy us too.
Personally it isn't my belief that God made us perfect and then on our own we became evil. That doesn't make seance.

If 99% of the car models that ever existed no longer exist, why did auto manufacturers bother to design them? Designs evolve over time.

And why bother with 99% of the ones that are here, as examples
Tree Sparrows / House Sparrows
Chiffchaffs / Willow Warblers
All those ants, surely you only need two at the most - red and black.
Did you know there are 80 kinds of bat?

For two reasons that I can think of. First, since death entered this world through sin He made more than enough species so that as the process continued on we wouldn't run out. Secondly so that we could see that this earth that we live on is slowly running down and out and we would realize that our only hope is in God and the new earth to come.
2 Peter 3:1 This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.
4 They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation."
5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

Why would a computer programmer build code for an entire program when s/he could merely code the closing page and have done with it?
The adventure is in the journey, not the destination.

In my opinion God didn't create them, which means evolution got rid of them. They either couldn't adapt to their surroundings, didn't contribute to the eco system around them, or were hunter down to extinction, either by us or other predators in the vicinity.
Survival of the fittest. Face it, it makes more sense than God created the DoDo and then suddenly decided he didn't like it anymore, so destroyed it. What kind of a loving caring God is that?!
In evolutionary terms it's known as natural selction...There's a short bit about it on this site.

because god loved them, but wonted man to make it so he could laugh at us and have a good time doing it with his angels?while we kill off the remaining creatures so he can start over cause he does make mistakes? hell, i don't know, go ask him sometime when you die if he likes you and doesn't send you to hell? The prince of the power of the air is in control really, wait. you will probably meet it sometime too.,It is called a paradox.but it is all spiritual in nature, you think?this is all an illusion?

I do not rely on my own understanding. I do not have to know everything in my Father's business to run some errands for Him.
He loves me and you. That is what matters the most.
