I have no trouble running any other programs, but at random times when I'm running Neverwinter Nights, it will crash to my desktop...or sometimes freeze my computer up entirely. Sometimes it will occur at the main menu, sometimes it will crash while I'm connecting to a server, or loading a local module. Sometimes it will crash during gameplay.

I am already running it on the lowest settings possible - are there other things that I could check or change to remedy this situation?

Also, my computer is only a year old, and runs WOW just fine.

That's surprising, because that game is old. It was always very stable for me.

There are several updates, which you can download here:

Also, it's always a good idea to update your video drivers. You shouldn't have to play a game on lowest settings, especially one that old, unless your computer is older.

If it regularly crashes when you're on a server, check the ping of that server. If it's high, you will notice the game is kind of laggy. Yes, some servers have bugs, so you may lose your connection with them. I crash when playing NWN a lot, too. Try updating your game version to 1.68 by clicking "update" in the load game screen. When you're playing NWN, make sure you close ALL the programs running on your computer, because they slow you're computer down. Finally, I suggest playing on a faster computer.

Hope that helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in case you chanced on Icewind Dale too archaic, i'm unhappy to declare you won't savour the Baldurs Gate laptop video games, as IWD became made later with the comparable uncomplicated engine. i might say provide them a try in any case, they're seen classics for a reason. i might advise huge call Wars:Knights of the previous Republic and KotoR 2, in all hazard Dungeon Siege II for action. For older video games, there is the final Fallout a million and 2 and Arcanum. And springing up interior the no longer too distant destiny, Fallout 3. Wahoo!
