He shaves his face once a week and goes through 3 razors doing it. He has senstitive skin, that's why he waits to do it only once a week. He's expressed interest in an electric shaver. Are there better brands for sensitive skin?

I think most electric shavers yank your hair out pretty bad. You have to develop a tolerance to electric razors because of it. When he first starts to use it, since he has really sensitive skin it will probably affect him even more. That's why they sell stuff like electrashave?.. to prevent the skin rash that may occur.

If he's using cheap disposable razors then No wonder his face doesn't like it!!
Electric razors Dry the skin out more so!

If he is shaving once a week-then I suggest exfoliating his Bristles in a Hot Shower or bath first.
This soften up the Bristles.
Then using a Good Aloe Vera based Shaving Gel, with a Good Quality Wet-shaver.
After wards he needs to be using a Post Shave Healing balm(Made for sensitive skin!)

Advise him to Always Shave Downwards in the direction of the bristles-ONE Stroke at a Time(Washing Whiskers out of the razor under Hot running tap).Never go over the same place twice!(It just aggravates the Skin!

I use Clinque Shaving products-They work perfectly on Sensitive Skin!! The People that sell it can advise you Further.
At Macy's or J.C. Penny's

i suffer from this and have invested in a gillette 'fusion' and used a face shaving cream from a company called 'lush'
the cream is called 'razorantium'
i was a bit dubious about weather it would be better as im heading towards 40 and have been wandering around with half beards due to my hatred of shaving, but i was very pleasantly surprised with the new razor and find im shaving every other day now instead of twice a week.
i have tried electric razor but due to the heavy growth and my dark complexion found that the shave was never close enough and had razor rash from the electric one too.
i would suggest trying the razor as its cheaper than the electric and instead of the gels on the market try an oil such as somersetoil or king of shaves but depending on which country you are in (im uk) im unsure of what you can get
hope this helps

I got my boyfriend a Braun Activator ($150) for his birthday. He still doesn't shave daily, but he does it about 3 times a week now because this is gentle on his skin. There is also a Norelco shaver on the market that uses Noxema shaving gel to soothe the skin...also around $120.

im in the same boat. dr told me to grow out a beard so my face will get tough. so i did another good one is a good ole straght razor. disposable type use a ballon to practice . also before you shave put a hot towel on his face . most of the electric shavers out there tore me up worst than anything . i have a good collection of them . i dont like to look scruffy with a beard and all but it does make youre face get tougher . at first when it got about a inch long on my face it hurt to touch it . but i wore it for months. until it didnt hurt to touch . then i used clippers to cut it back . then a straght razor . took some time but it worked for me . some people thought i looked good with my red beard i didnt like

Anbusol might help, that liquid for sore teeth and gums. Apply that first let it dry then test a small area of the face.

He can go to a salon and get a face wax, each month or every other week.
