That depends on what you mean by "Oil Companies". There are hundreds of associated descriptions (oil refinery, oil extraction, oil transport, etc...).

The easiest way to find a list would be to dig into the EPA's web site, or more particularly, the web site for a state agency. In Texas, this would be the TCEQ (http://www.TCEQ.GOV).

Most oil extraction and refinery companies, however, are located in the south central states (Texas, Louisiana, Alabama), with the largest cluster in Texas (Houston, Bay-town area).

In the source listing, I've added a few URL's for you, one is a Google search on the terms "Oil refinery near Houston", which returned about 450 companies, which sounds about right.

I'd be careful of asking questions like this one. Some may think you are a terrorist trying to get info and report you. The government knows that terrorists use the internet to gain information to use for their strikes on the U.S. and such (as reported on "60 Minutes" and other news programs).

The best place to find out things like that is through a reference librarian at your university or your public library. You will probably make their day because many people don't even know reference librarians even exist.
