it's an uncontrollable state.

I have quickness of breath and i feel like I'm spinning round very fast. I feel sick and you feel like your going to die.

Your never cured of them but you can learn to cope with the situations that trigger them, so they become a lot less frequent.

I suffer from panic attacks on a fairly regular basis, most often when I have to leave the house. I have cancelled more dr. appointments, called in sick to work or school, and backed out on more social plans than I can count. My symptoms are racing heart, nausea, hyperventilation, chest pain, dizziness and inexplicable fear, which often results in my not being able to move, or even losing time, meaning I'll think only a minute or two has passed, look at the clock and realize that it's been 20 minutes. I know I have a problem leaving the house, known as agoraphobia, but I don't know how to get rid of it without taking meds. I have left many-a-shopping cart full of groceries in the middle of the aisle because I have to leave the store, because I feel like I can't breathe and feel that I am going to either pass out, die, or freak out and start flinging things off the shelves in a full-blown rage. I have had to leave work, school, parties, concerts, flower shops, wedding receptions, (the list goes on), and that's if I can leave the house at all. I guess you could call it a kind of paralysis. It is miserable, debilitating, and frightening as hell. I don't know why this happens to me, but I'd sure like to know how to make it go away.

Panic attacks are caused by the fright or fright response we have by nature when we feel we are in danger. Uncontrollable ones can come at any time when we feel that way even onder normal circumstances. Do some research on them and talk to a therapist. They can make your heart race and you feel like you arre going to die. The more you fight them, the worse they become. You can learn to ride them out by learning about your own irrational fears. I was always afraid of passing out in front of people but I learned so what if I do. I was afraid of being judged by people and have since learned not to worry about what others think. I would just help someone else who would fall down and now I realize others would help me.

The symptoms vary from person to person. For me I had trouble getting enough air in my lungs, i felt very disoirentated with a odd sensation at the back of my head, feeling like I was going to die.

Sometimes just recognising that you are having a panic atttack and that it is not life threatening can be enough to help "talk yourself" down when you feel another one coming on.

Other than that the sufferer needs to find the root causes of the anxiety and try to alleviate or avoid this cause.

It's a psychological condition that creates physical symptoms. A person feels threatened in certain situations, usually not warranted, but the fear is very real anyway. Symptoms can range from simple stomach tightening to so severe that some people feel like they're actually on the verge of dying on the spot.

A panic attack is an excessive "fight or flight" reaction. When people are afraid or anxious the body reacts by stimulating the body to defend itself... heart rate rises, eyes dilate, muscles get tense, breathing accellerates, and all the senses are heightened. During a panic attack this reaction is excessive and can even reach the point of mimicking a heart attack.

Like all the walls around you are closing in, You feel very sic. You ussually shake like your cold, its kinda like your on drugs, you barley move your hand but it feels like its moving a MILLION miles an hour detatchign from your body, your heart is racing like a heart attack. usually when i was having one i would spalsh cold water on my face and tell my self nothing was wrong i remaind calm. then i would ussually put a cold washcloth on my head I never went to the doctor even though it could be something very serious. Im not to worried because usually i just fight it out and wait till it passes it only lasts about 10-45 minuets and usually ill just fall asleep before its over.

Getting real nervous for no reason at all. You imagine you are dying. I have even gotten pains in the chest and thought I was taking a heart attack. Taken to the hospital by ambulance and found nothing wrong. I have to take medication to control the attacks. Very scary, even though you know what they are when you are taking one.

It's when you find extreme difficulty in breathing and the heart beats very fast, the best thing to do is to breath into a paper bag to slow down the oxygen intake into the brain, some people often mistake one for a heart attack, they are scary but mostly harmless.
