On a first date they seem to project a certain image and then after a few weeks their personality changes considerably and I don't know how to take it. Any single advice?

Honey, when it gets right down to it, we're ALL needy at some level! men, women - if you're human, you have needs. That's a fact. As for the behavior changes after the first date - it's not just women who do that. All of us start out on "best behavior" when dating - the early stages - but with time & familiarity the "real you" emerges. If you are in a committed relationship, the two of you adapt to one another & your personalities change to complement one another. That's all it is. Unless the women you are dating perform a total Jekkyl & Hyde on you & become totally different from the girl you first went out with, you just learn to accept that once they've become comfortable with you, they feel like they can relax. That's actually a compliment to you! And I'm sure you do the same, as well - you know that you do date behavior when you go out with someone for the first time! Its typical for people to act the way they think someone would like them at first. But then the realism comes out. Women do have a tendency to be needy.

This is not uncommon. First dates are very uncomfortable for both parties. People tend to be more themselves after a few dates. Completely normal.

the first date is awkward and most people are feeling uncomfortable. So, for the most part after the first date both people become comfortable w/each other.

YES! As a woman, we are needy, speaking for me, I need lots of attention, lots of affection, I need to be told that my man loves me often. Me and my bf get into it often becasue he doesn't forfil all my needs. And I guess the reason we "play" so cool on the first few dates are so we can string you into our web of love and than once we got you were we know you arn't going anyway roawwwwwwwwww, here comes the b1tch.

This woman isn't! I have no idea why other girls make that change. If they were independent on the first date, why can't they continue to be independent?
