My wife just retired from teaching second graders in a public school. This is our first time trying to find a place to stay in the winter. I own a computer company and can work from anywhere as long as I have high speed internet connection (at the very least Verizon wireless). We have 2 15 pound Dachshunds. Would like to keep weekly bill under $600 and want to stay anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Have not yet decided how long we want to stay. Hotels seem too confining. Cabins seem nice but what about high speed internet connections.

You know that Southern Georgia and Southern Alabama are pretty rural, right? A cabin with high-speed Internet is a pretty tall order.

In South Georgia, you might look at St. Simons, Island. It's a beautiful area, and they may have the sort of thing you're seeking. There are also some lake-based resorts in Southwest Georgia, near Bainbridge.

With South Alabama, Gulf Shores is gorgeous, and Orange Beach is right there. Don't go on the other side of the bay, if you can help it.
