I took him to the vet a couple of days back , and they diagnosed that he had a fever and allergies.Gave him medication for it. But he is acting very scared and paranoid around the house. Stares at empty spots, will NOT sleep on his pillow, does not like being left alone, very hyper , looks like he's scared and nervous. Has never been taught to get on the furniture, but yesterday when my husband and I got back from work he was sitting on the couch in my spot and this morning he was in my husband's chair!!
What is wrong with him. He seems very nervous and cautious about everything. Just not acting like himself at all. We don't think he's spooked by anything, coz he's a brave dog and would have gotten over it in a few hours if so . PLEASE HELP !

I don't know what to say - this is off. Is he still on medication? The only thing I can suggest is that a sudden change in temperament is often caused by a physical problem. If something traumatic happened to your lab, you'd know about it, so that can't be it.

Maybe you should call your vet and let them know what's going on with him and when it started - I'd be suspecting some kind of reaction to his meds because of the timing of his paranoia. If he was normal before them and this started after taking them, maybe he needs some kind of medication adjustment.

Maybe he needs female companionship? Take him to a dog park and let him have some fun. Does he get to run a lot?
Worst case scenario is he has distemper. Watch for any aggressive actions. Did the Vet do any worm testing? Whip worms can make a dog feel very bad.

This sounds like a reaction to severe pain. Dogs react to pain in weird ways. I suggest going back to the vets, because this could be something serious.

Of course, this could be a reaction to the drugs also, but you really need to talk to your vet about it.

Go back to the vet and tell him what is happening. Your dog might be sicker than the vet originally thought
