YES. I walk in the Survivor Lap. I've walked for 2 years now, and I will keep walking. It is wonderful. When I walk around the track, it feels like all those people are clapping just for me. It is a wonderful time of healing. And I thank God for everyone who is willing to get out there and do that for people like me. I'm very sorry for those that have passed on from cancer, and sometimes I feel guilty that I survived. But my little boy still has his mommy. God bless those who particpate in the Relay for Life. Thank you.
On a lighter note... Been There, Done That, Got the T-shirt, and I Wear it Proudly!!!!!

Yes and Yes. I go to the Relay For Life in Monroe, Michigan every year to honor all the people we've lost including my cousin Jacop and close friend Annie. Also during that time we have a bake sale every Wednesday for a while. This year we're selling the beautiful beaded bracelets/keychains for the cause and MANY people from my school donate money at school. We also participate in the online thing where we sign up and try to reach our goals. I love doing this and it's really fun!

I may participate at some point, but I have a few issues with what is being accomplished with the money. My son has a childhood cancer and is still in treatment, so with our limited time and income I feel that we need to focus on funding money for his rare cancer.
It may not be right, but I often feel like people with rare cancers, especially rare childhood cancers are forgotten among all the yellow bracelets and pink ribbons. Immediate research in order to save young lives is needed badly for kids with his sarcoma. At the moment there is no research going on, people with his cancer receive very little support, and most are dying from their disease.
It's really a difficult position to explain as I hate cancer enough that I don't want anyone to suffer.
I just wish cancer was not so political and that the goal was to erradicate all cancers, even those that are rare.
Maybe someday I'll be able to participate more, but right now we are still searching for effective treatment to stop the progression of my sons disease.
