I cut my boys hair at 6 months but if your son has a lot go ahead and do it now. Al long as his soft spot has hardened he should be OK. I think that the sooner you get them used to the sound of the beauty shop the better they do when they grow up. You also need to take him after he has eaten and taken a nap. Other wise he will be fussy. Make sure you also take him to the same person all the time so he can get used to him/her and he will be more likely to behave for the hairdresser.

My brother had his first hair cut at 11 days his hair was over an inch long at birth and stuck out in every direction he looked like he had stuck his finger in a light socket... My parents decided to get it cut when it kept getting in his eyes... My mother always jokes it was a choice cut it or put it in a barrette.. LOL

My son got his first when he was 2 he was born with a beautiful full head of hair which all fell out within 2 weeks and then took forever to grow back...

Both of my nephews had thiers cut at about 11 months... They both have extremely curly hair and my sister was having trouble combing through it so it was time for a cut...

My son was born with so much stinkin hair its not even funny. We started buzzing it at 4 1/2 months now he is almost 1 and has had 5 hair cuts, its a fade now. My opinion is he is perfect age to start.

at anytime really...my son first had his at 10 months and i had been thinking about it for a long time, he had alot of hair...however i was afraid of sending him to someone i didnt know and who didnt have experience in cutting childs hair..so i went home for a visit once and my Aunt is a hair dresser...she has 7 neices/nephews....5 grandkids and has cut all their hair...so i believe she was well qualified to do it...

my son was curious and looked around but she was so patient and gentle with him..however now, you cant get withing 5 feet of him with scissors and god forbid i say the word haircut, cuz he freaks out

I was always told that a baby has to be at least 1 year old. I cut my son's hair on his 1st birthday.

I don't think there is a right or wrong age for a haircut. You cut his hair when it needs to be cut. If it's long and hanging in his eyes, cut it, if not wait til it's longer.

You can cut a childs hair at any age. I didn't cut my childrens hair (their first haircut) till they were 1 yr old.

umm, when they're ready to have a haircut. If his hair is in his eyes or just being a pain, then go ahead. It's just a hair cut and won't hurt him

That is entirely up to the parent, but in West Indian culture the hair is not cut until the child utters its first few words.

Apparently cutting the hair before that will render the child a mute..!!

Personally I don't believe that but......

i dont believe there is a rule about this one. its your son and if u want to cut his hair go ahead. some cultures or religions might have a rule about how long to wait. but like i always say don't follow traditions because alot of it makes no sense.
