It really depends on how close you are to your goal. AT 5'4" and 118lbs you shoud be just about there. You are doing the right thing in exercising. This is the only way to put oxygen in the body cells. Oxygen breaks down fat, but you need to drink at least 8 8oz glasses of water every day. The water helps flush the fat from the cells. I know it is inconvenient to run to the bathroom all day, but anything worth having is worth making the effort. Don't give up if you don't start losing right away. Your body is accustomed to your current weight, and is not happy in giving it up. Sounds so elementary, but give it time. In your case you will probably start to see results in about three weeks. I have been working on a diet for about 6 weeks and am just now seeing an eight pound loss. I am also working out about 4-5 days a week at CURVES, it's a great place, and designed just for women. (No sweaty, hairy, men to have to contend with.

Why do you want to lose 10 lbs.? If you are not happy with the way you look at that weight, you probably should think about toning up some rather than losing 10 lbs. What people (some of these posters included) need to realize, is that it's not straight weight loss, but percentage of your body weight/body fat that you are losing. If you are trying to lose what amounts to nearly 10% of your body weight, it may take a while (two weeks is NOT REALISTIC). To put it in perspective, even people on a show like "Biggest Loser" (who go through intense diet and fitness regiments) typically lose no more than 4-5% of their weight in a week, and that is A LOT. I would get your body fat checked, and go by that, rather than some arbitrary "ideal weight". As I said, 5'4" and 118 sounds like a good weight, and you should probably focus on toning up more rather than losing fat (although it would depend on body type as well).

Focus more on burning the fat and just what you look like. You're weight really won't tell you anything cause as you're losing some weight by burning fat you may also be gaining some weight by building muscle. Anyway, at your age a good month in the gym should get you on the way to what you want.

Honestly probably within month if you do it right and perfectly, It also depends on your metabolism, I have a really fast metabolism. If not about month nd a half. If you want the fastest way and the worst way then gag yourself, run stairs with sweatshirts, starve urself for a day, keep spitting in a bottle for a day. you will lose ten pounds within a day, but it will comeback easily. I did it for wrestling all the time.

at your weight and height ten pounds is about all you should loose. unless its concentrated in one location, dont worry about your weight, your body is still developing and maturing, and will continue to change for an other 6 to 7 years, then you can worry about taking off excess weight.. in the mean time just continue what you are doing and everything will be fine,
