.The idea of the afterlife allows the masses to be exploited in this life. As it seems they have no control over the rewards in this life going to the few privileged ones, they are made to feel better that they will be rewarded in the next life, especially for being good boys and girls.

for many people I am sure it is.
but its absolutely not universally so.
I have experienced things that prove to me beyond a doubt that "the afterlife" exists, with as much certainty as I have that say... gravity exists.
would you be less confident about being able to see color, if you were in a room with 9 people who were born totally blind?

actually thats just hell that does that... if your not afraid of the afterlife, but reassured, then you have no need to be afraid or allow yourself to be controlled.
afterlife does not neccesarily mean that your rewarded for doing as your told, and punished for going against what your told...
in fact this is why constantine took the concept of Reincarnation out of Christian doctrine, because it gave people too much hope for something better.

Actually, the idea of the afterlife was created to control people. It's like telling a child that if she behaves, she'll get a lolly pop when she gets home but if she doesn't then she'll have to go to her room for time out.

For me it's more of a there has to be something more than this, but then I tend to believe in reincarnation because I can't imagine so many billions of people living and dying and just staying dead.

there is life after death for sure since Lord Jesus Himself showed the way of death and resurrection.
we are specillay called to believe in faith of eternity so live to faith and truth in Him by Him for Him the only saviour Lord saviour Jesus Christ, live and die for Him as witnesses so to stand in front of Him on the Last day with honour and priase to Him alleluyah
