The current trend is this: Each human civilization has possessed pervasive religious beliefs. Religion seems to be part of the fabric of human culture, and will continue to be such, if past trends are any indication.
If you are referring specifically to Judeo-Christian beliefs, well, Christianity has been around for 2000+ years, sometimes under very oppressive circumstances. And usually being oppressed serves merely to make the faith stronger.
I think there's a transition that has been going on (the US is basically a post-Christian nation compared to what it used to be), but it's simply helping to separate those who believe out of convenience/culture from those who have made specific commitments to the Christian faith. The latter continues to believe and is even stronger and more solid in their beliefs, regardless of whatever cultural/political power they might hold.
In any case, if history is any indication, I don't see religion going away anytime soon, anywhere.

I think it will survive, but it will gradually evolve. I think that there are two main types of people emerging, the militant 'bible-bashers' who try to make everything about religion, and those who choose to follow their own religion their own way. More and more people are abandoning the church for their own ways of worship. It's actually almost a second reformation!

very long, since western countries are continuously receiving conservative immigrants that continue support of the religions they had at their country of origin, so Europe, for instance will become the continent of a million mosques and very few churches.

Religion will not only survive, but it will develop rapidly throughout the world. This is not human effort, but it is God's will.
Man has to be raised to the global civilization, and nothing but religion can accomplish it.

Considering you're speaking about millions of people claiming to be religious versus only a few hundred thousand who claim to be atheist or undecided: I don't think you'll see an end to it in any of our lifetimes - praise God.
