everyone has brand preferences, so you're going to get about a million recommendations, some good, some bad.

what you need to look for is all wheel drive, abs, and really good tires. you dont want something that has the big rims and skinny tires, and you want to stay away from the sportier ones.... usually sportier in the summer means harder to control in the winter.

I live in the midwest where we have bad winters and I have great luck with my Pontiac Bonneville. I had a grand am before the bonneville and it did good also. Hope this helps.
