I asked this question before I became a christian! Your quite right it is very strange to have a symbol of execution around your neck to represent a religion!

The cross is not a symbol of death or defeat for Christians but a symbol of life and joy! Jesus died and then came back to life. Its a symbol of his triumph.

The fish is also a symbol of Christianity as his early followers were fishermen! Look out for them! They are as popular as a cross or crucifix.

I imagine we would wear a symbol of a gas chamber rather than gas, or an electric chair, an axe or whatever method was used!

The glorification is not in his death but in the triumph of his rising from the dead.

I would like to point out that Catholics were also murdered by the Nazis along with the disabled and any brave person who stood in their way.

As a Catholic I condemn the hatred of Jewish people my church is very clear its a sin to hate Jews! Jesus was Jewish!! And if my God chose to be born into the Jewish race then they are blessed!

I don't wear a crucifix, but I think it's a symbol that is meant to represent the most ultimate sacrifice for the benefit of man.

I think people wear it for inspiration and a sign of faith. To Christians, Jesus died as a sacrifice for mans benefit.

But as you mention the gas chambers, and WW2, don't forget that millions of young men from Britain, France, America, etc. died in battle or prison camp so you and I could type anything we like on this free speech forum. And we type it in English, not German !!

Actually, I don't wear a crucifix - I wear an empty cross. I wear it to remind of me His triumph over death, of His great love for me and to remember to act in a manner befitting my Lord. I probably would not wear a gas chamber, though, too bulky.

Hitler's view of the Jews as inferior was based on fundamental Catholic view that they are doomed as a race because they killed God in human form on the cross.
If Jesus hadn't already died back then, Hitler would have no reason to kill the Jews in the future, including not killing Jesus who was a Jew himself.

God knew exactly when he was going to send His Son and he was crucified on a cross, and that is the symbol that we like to have to remember the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us.

Yes they would. And if Jesus was sent in the 20th century, they would wear an electric chair or a lethal injection kit.

The point is that God DIDN'T send his Son during any other historic period then roman and He definitely did it for a very good reason.

We do not glorify His death, only the fact that He is no longer dead, but risen and now sits at the right hand of God the Father.

Mankind had develop into corrupt, and that they have got been passing their evil techniques directly to their infants and grandchildren. in easy terms Noah became righteous and harmless until now God, and he and his family members have been stored. think of roughly this--what might have occurred to those human beings in the event that they have been left to themselves and their wickedness, passing it down from technology to technology? might they have been any much less depraved while the regulation became surpassed right down to the individuals by way of Moses? Romans 5:12-13: "subsequently, merely as by way of one guy sin entered into the international, and loss of existence by way of sin, and so loss of existence unfold to all adult adult males, because of the fact all sinned—for until the regulation sin became interior the international, yet sin isn't IMPUTED while there is not any regulation." That little word, "imputed," became a organisation term--an accounting term. It meant, "charged to a minimum of one's account." Sin isn't charged to a minimum of one's account while there is not any regulation. did you be responsive to that the Bible tells us approximately between the 1st issues Jesus did after being placed to loss of existence? a million Peter 3:18-20: "For Christ additionally suffered as quickly as for sins, the only for the unjust, that He would carry us to God, being placed to loss of existence interior the flesh yet made alive by way of the Spirit, by way of whom additionally He went and preached to the spirits in penal complex, who until now have been disobedient, while as quickly as the Divine longsuffering waited interior the days of Noah, on the same time as the ark became being arranged, wherein some, this is, 8 souls, have been stored by way of water." think of roughly that! in case you are able to enable that sink in, and carry close the which ability of it, you will understand that what God did became an act of affection. what's some years of existence in this earth in comparison with eternity?
