The fibula is the smaller bone in your leg. Unless it is near your ankle, ORIF is rarely needed for this bone as weight bearing is mostly done by the bigger bone, the tibia. This bone can even be removed for bone grafting. Wonder why you need ORIF?

Open reduction with internal fixation (ORIF) which means a surgical procedure that opens up the skin and exposes the skeletal parts that are involved and depending on the break of the bone a pin or screws may be used to help hold the bones together. It will take time to heal and possible physical therapy, if it's a good qualified orthopedic surgeon there shouldn't be a deformity only a scar from the surgery ,some people may limp some not also depends on the break and the age of the person but the out look is good with todays modern techniques and therapy.
