It is not necessary, to give a gift at a Baptism
As you have been invited as a guest,
,it would be a thought full gesture
to bring or send ,a pretty Christening card
and slip some money into it (£5 is good)
As a present for the baby .
>^,,^<
God parents do sometimes, start a bank account
, for the God child,
any extra, will go into that, for his future .

You don't have to but you should. For one thing if you don't you'll probably be the only one who didn't. But you can get something small. They have nice baptism gifts at the card stores like Hallmark. You can get something for around $10 - $15. And there's nothing wrong at all with going in with somebody else on your gift to save money.

Yes, you should bring a gift to a Baptism. Hallmark probably carries gifts for the occassion, as well as Things Remembered.

Baptism is not for recieving gifts...but as a common practice, it's up to you...if you got money to buy then you can buy gifts for the little one, but if you don't have, then you don't have to. As long as you've been invited to attend the baptism, your pressence is the most important.

I think you get invited to today's Baptism's because the parents want to include you in their special occassion. But you do get some invites because of the gifts they're expecting to get. It's up to you. But whatever you do, buy one, not buy one, you need to feel good and comfortable doing it.

Yes but it doesn't have to be expensive. You can get nice silver baptism gifts in argos and such like very reasonably, anyway its the thought that counts.

It would be wrong to baptise a baby, surely you mean Christen. ?
To be baptised is to give yourself to the Lord Jesus and you have to be fully aware of what you are doing. Baby's cannot be aware what is going on so it would be meaningless in Christianity.
If it is for an adult then a card would be OK but not normally gifts

It's not in any written law but it's common curtesy. It doesn't have to be anything expensive.
If you don't have the money and the parents are your friends, how about making them a gift voucher promising to babysit for them.
