my finace and i booked a hall and now in dec we have a food tasting coming up and i would like my parents to go with us. problem is that no on knows we are getting married because i havnt gotten a ring yet due to him being in iraq. i will be getting a ring when we visit ny but that will be a few days after the food tasting. we are getting married in ny and will be doing wedding stuff while we are there for the holidays. my parents like him and we are definitly getting married. we live together as well. should i tell my parents that we are getting married and we booked the hall and would like for them to come with us or should we just go and keep it hush hush till i get the ring. i honestly dont think my parents would freak out or anything but just wanted some opinions! thanks!

Maybe tell them on the way to the food tasting.

Tell them you have some errands you need to run and want them to come with you. Then when you are almost at the hall tell them about you getting married and ask them to help with you the food tasting.

This way they can be involved wth out being too involved. If that is what you want.

As long as you two love each other, I think your parents will be happy for you.

Congrats and have a happy life together.

Be prepared for an "I'm disappointed" speech...although you really should have come out and told them the minute you both got engaged, I'm sure telling them now is better than later. They will be so excited about everything that it won't matter you've already booked the hall...they may not want a say in what food you choose, but I'm sure they'd love to spend the time with you and your fiance during the process...I would tell them.

i think you should tell them that u 2 are getting married and then tell them a few days after that u booked a place and they want u all to go to tast the food that why your parenys don't feel like they are being left out of anrything b/c my mom was a lil upset that i did not tell her i was looking at places i guess it'sa mom things but then my dad was kinda upset that i did't ask what he thought so then agein it's a parent thing so i would as then and that why u can always know u aksed if they wanted to be apart of it . :)~
Also this why i got more advice on the food everyone likes ;)
good luck with the wedding

p.s do u have someone doing photography?

It's completely up to you...... my parents are not doing the food testing so in my personal opinion, I would wait to surprise them with the ring!! They don't need to be there for the food testing. I think it's much more fun and official when you have the ring!! They won't even care about the food testing, after you tell them!!
Good luck!

You should tell them while you are with your fiance. If you are not getting married until Oct. '07 move the food tasting.

I think that you should go ahead and tell them and book the hall. If you know in your heart that you love him, he loves you and your families are accepting of your appending marriage. Go ahead and tell them. The ring can wait being that he is Serving Our Country.

Tell them you are getting married, a ring is only a symbol anyway.
