I am a stay-at-home mom in Ohio, wanting to provide childcare for 1-4 hours at a time for those running errands/shopping up the road from me, which is where all the shopping in the area is. This is not a permanent situation. I don't know how much to charge per hour. Do I charge less per hour if someone has 2 or 3 children?

Most childcare facilities will give discounts on additional children. One would be full cost (usually the youngest), and the others would be at a 10-20% discount.

I never so much looked at what a child care cost - I always looked for other things that meant more to me. Is the place clean, safe places for the children to play, does the caregiver have set activities during the day or is the tv going to be on...I also check their criminal history. I will not take my children to an at-home babysitter who is not licensed by the state, has the tv on, and/or has unsafe places for children (messy garage - I actually met with a babysitter who had cables running down the downstairs wall that went to her tv!). I also will not meet with a babysitter if she has a criminal record, or refuses to give me the information to find it. I also will not meet with a babysitter who has not had CPR training - as since accidents can always happen, it can take several minutes for an ambulance to come and those several minutes mean life or death.

So, if you intend to be a good babysitter, and have the things careful parents look for all set - then I suggest that you get a rate sheet from your local day care center, and charge less than they do.

Since you are looking at doing it part-time I would charge by the hour. An appropriate charge would be $8 an hour. If you'd like you can give a $1 discount per child, per hour if they bring more than one. You should also take into consideration if they will be there for lunch or dinner or need a snack, if so you will need to charge a little more to cover the cost. Good luck! Email me if you have any more Q's, I do in-home daycare full-time.

My daughter baby sits out of her home and gives a break to those who have more than 1 child ,so yes there -start with about $2 or $3 a hour per child see how that goes - people just dont pay alot for babysitting - most only get $75 -$100 for a full week per kid, and if you figure that out it's only $2.50 a hour. so you aren't going to get rich but you will make a few extra $
Glad I don't live where Byron lives - I could never go out lol

abode care should not be greater desirable than daycare, quite while you're basically somebody assisting out, no longer quite a registered abode day care. an afternoon for my toddler at a classic day care may be $32. My sitter gets $20 to observe my toddler for an entire day, for a well-known artwork week. I grant all i will, as far by way of fact the needs, and lunch and drink and snacks. She watches my toddler at her abode. just to grant you some thought. If it quite is basically for some hours, the value is generally greater in step with hour at places than in the event that they're looking on the toddler for an entire day. At daycare, i think of the value is someplace around $5, supply or take, while when I checked into abode daycares, it became everywhere from $2 an hour to $2.50 an hour, yet i've got heard that it varies. (I also have a 2 year. previous)

Well you are going to want to do it per child. About 5-6 dollars per hour per child would do. You need to be able to cover costs of expenses, for example if you will serve snack, activities for the children (coloring books, toys) you need to cover that plus make a profit for yourself.

Why you don't ask some care provider and the you are maths and charge. but you should start with one or two, then when you feel organized and you can do it you try with one more.
