stretch your throat backwards. hot liquids, chicken soup if you got it. tea otherwise, but sugar is bad. zinc if you have it. you can even suck on a zinc pill. they taste bad, but it helps.
don't ignore the first sentence. stretch your throat backwards and hold it. helps with some sore throats, not with others.

I know I personally frequently have this problem. Do you have a nasal drip in the back of your throat? A decongestant may be in order.
Does your throat feel dry? Try boiling a pot of water, putting a towel over your haed, and breathe deeply... a humidifier with a vick's syrum might work well, too. if you have basil in the pot, that is a helper also.
There is a tea, by Traditional Medicinals, Throat Coat, highly reccomend it, will coat you throat.
if this is a straining or swollen feeling, it could be a strepp, and if you do not get it checked out, you could develope scarlett fever.
if it is your throat and chest, could be laryngitus (sp?) bronchitis, etc...
If you have athsma, I reccomend taking your emergency inhaler no matter what it feels like. I do, and it definately helps.
If you feel tight, and it is cold outside, it might be a relief to simply step out that door and breath deep.
Have you had your tonsils removed? it could be that, in which case, a doctors visit is probably best!
That is all I can think of! I have a long history of throat problems in my family, and that is all we do to cure it...
also, any chest vapor rub would do you good too. and take your allergy meds just in case, it could be an unsuspected alergic reaction to something in the air, and it would not affect your ability to take most decongestants or cold meds.
ok... thats all I can think of!
Take care! Get well!

If you have them; make a cup of hot water and mix in a generous spoonful of honey followed by some lemon juice(orange will work too). If you have any bee's pollen, that will help too - stir like its some magic potion and slowly sip it, ensuring it caresses the back of your mouth and throat (careful not to breath any into your lungs :). To top it all off, the most important thing now is that you humm softly. A tune that inspires warm and happy feelings in you is most effective. Humm gently and move the tingly vibrations of your voice throughout as much of your throat as possible. keep on it, enjoying yourself until you feel the pain become isolated and then dissolve. It shouldn't take longer than eight minutes for you to realize it's all gone and everyone in your house would love to wake up to a full cooked breakfast ;)
Good luck

You may gargle with some salt in a warm glass of water. That usually helps. If you are trying to get strep throat it will cure it most times. You should gargle several times a day. It is a natural home remedy.

there are a range of abode treatments, and shop-offered, yet pay interest to the advice about antibiotics, because no matter if that's Strep, untreated strep can convey about rheumatic fever,(everlasting heart damage),PLUS that's infectious to those round you. Chloraseptic throat spray, numbs your throat, yet can burn like a undergo first.......and is not any longer a answer for lengthy time period. warm tea with honey will be soothing.......and Sucrets cough drops have numbing homes too. Advil can help cut back the discomfort also........strong success

Have a hot drink, and put a teaspoon of honey in it.
Otherwise mix 1 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water, then gargle with it.
Finally, take some simple painkillers like paracetamol.
Hope you feel better soon.

sorry you have a sore throat, hope you feel better
1) possibly strep throat if you have fever & otherwise feel sick, see a dr. for throat culture
2) hot tea with honey/lemon
3) cough drop, strong one, maybe even a sucrets
4) drink some water
5) gargle with warm salt water (dissolve salt in water until it doesn't dissolve anymore)
I'm starting to wonder if your sore throat is caused by postnasal drip. this can be caused by a cold or by allergies. are you allergic to something in your room? make sure your blankets, pillowcases get washed in hot water (to kill dust mites) and look into allergy-proofing your room

Hot tea with honey and wrap a damp warm towel around your neck. Feel better. You might want to start taking some vitamins... like C and maybe some echinacea.

the best thing that i have used is "apple cyder vinegar"... it is a natural antibiotic ... if you do a bit of research you will find that it was used during the first world war when the troops ran out of medication like penicillin.... what you need to do is have a cap full twice a day.... its vinegar so the taste is not the best..... but i swear by it, nothing will get rid of the cold or flu quicker
