You can also consider the option of camel taking some bananas and leaving them somewhere in between and returning to the starting point to get remaining bananas and so on.

500 bananas.

The first 500 bananas are eaten in the first 100 miles (as it takes 3 trips, without having to return the third time). The second 500 are eaten in the second 100 miles (same manner). This leaves just 2000 bananas, and so the camel only has to make two trips for the third hundred miles, which costs another 300 bananas(two trips, without having to return the second time). He continues double trips till the fifth hundred miles, which leaves him 1100 bananas. He has to leave 100 bananas behind here as he can carry only 1000 bananas at a go, and coming back for this hundred would cost him an extra 100 bananas. So, the camel carries the remaining 1000 bananas across the remaining 500 miles, eats one per mile, and reaches his destination with 500 to spare.

Let us say that the camel started at point “A” (Starting point) carrying 1000 bananas to point “B” a 1000 miles walk eating one banana every mile = 1000 bananas, hence he reaches “B” carrying 0 bananas. However, he has pulled the other 2000 bananas across in a cart. Therefore 2000 bananas can be taken across.

You said the camel could carry a maximum of 1000 bananas, you did not say the camel could not pull a cart.

dude consider the camel takes 1000 first and goes till 500 mile point then 500 will be eaten and 500 remains ,,
like that 2 more times so totally 3 times the camel goes then
then the total eaten will be 500x3=1500
and total left will be 1500..
so another 500 mile to go then
the eaten bananas will be 500 and the bananas safely reaching the other side will be 1000....
hope this is correct..

set out 1000 bananas. 500 miles he drops load and eaten 500. so 500 remaining. he needs to go back so picks up 500 returns eats it on the way. the process repeats he cannot go beyond 500 miles unless he discovers an oasis and an aversion for bananas.
