I need some unbiased outside opinions on this. I think I am right, but there is always the chance that I am only seeing my side. My girlfriend and I moved to right outside of Boston 2 1/2 years ago. The subway closest to us is about a 5 min car ride and once on the train you are in Boston in less than 10 mins. I think this is a pretty good commute time. The only problem is, the parking lot at the station fills up rather quickly and we have to be there by 7:45 AM in order to guarantee we will get a spot. My girlfriend hates having to get up so early every morning just for this reason. She could technically sleep another hour or so if she could walk to the subway. For this reason she wants to move to an apartment that is closer. I do not see the sense in it if we are moving out in less than a year anyway. Why not just tough it out? Also, it will be more expensive and I hate moving. She really, really wants to move. Should I cave in or tell her to suck it up?

I don't think you should move, I think she can hang on for one more year. If the subway is 5 min by car, what would it take to walk 15 min that would give her another 1/2 hour to 45 min of sleep, she ever think of that! Plus you can take her to an awesome B&B with the money you save by not moving. Or get a bigger engagement ring (lol)! Think if you do make the move, you will have a big regret hanging over your head that would just make for more tension. GOOD LUCK!

The cost and effect theory is a suitable method solution here. You are right...tough it out and stay...if you give in now the next situation will be tougher to solve...obviously your room mate has no consideration for the bigger picture, or you, for that matter....looks like she is into herself and matters will get worse....better still...let her move...you stay there....that would be a wake up call...

Vote for moving out: as a new place, there will be a freedom that it isn't "your" apartment, is isn't "her" apartment, it's "our" apartment.

Vote for staying. You're moving out in less than a year anyway.

(Psst. After saying all that, i would move)

If she wants to move, let her pay for it. Otherwise you're staying right where you're at.
