why do some people lick their hands?

i know someone who does and would like to stop it.

SOME PEOPLE LICK THEIR HANDS AS A TEST TO SEE HOW MUCH SALT THEIR BODY IS LOSING...AS LONG AS YOU TASTE SALT, YOU HAVE ENOUGH ELECTROLYTES AND BODY SALTS IN YOUR SYSTEM. IF YOU DON'T TASTE SALT, ESPECIALLY IN HOT CLIMATES WHERE SWEATING IS THE WORD OF THE DAY, YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT SALT TABS OR A GLASS OF WATER WITH A TEASPOON OF SALT ADDED. IF YOU REALLY WANT SOMEONE TO STOP THIS HABIT, ALL I CAN SUGGEST IS A GIFT OF A WOOLY PAIR OF MITTENS.

Ask the person why they do it first?

Sounds kinda odd to me. Unless they're a weightlifter, in which case it'd be to keep their hands from slipping off the barbells.

If they got sticky stuff on their hands and licked them, then it'd be to get rid of the stuff

seriously, i think it's because they feel dry. most people can tolerate this but some are more sensitive. get them to put some hand lotion, vaseline or jergens makes some good ones. the lotions will alleviate the dry feeling and the taste of them if he/she licks them will be very disgusting.

they want grip at the ball but if they do this they getting germs in there mouth since after the ball hit the grass it's grass on it and grime and a few QBs be doing all of it sport
