The rainbow has seven colors only from the person who discovered it think, by name of ROY G. BIV which stands for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.

There are seven colours in the rainbow as others have already listed.You could of course include infra red and ultra violet to make up nine although these are not visible to the human eye!
