Sin of course. Actual sin. IT is like soot that darkens a lamps glass globe. Hiding the light within.

I think you answered your own question. SIN, Selfishness, Greed, separate us from God.
But I get the feeling that that is not your real question. Is it?
If only there where more considerate people here on earth, probably the world would be a better place. BUT... Life goes on, prayer and actions should do the trick eventually.

The sin of the world that John the Baptist spoke of that the lamb of God taketh away is the sin of not having a relatioship with God.
The first Adam fell from grace for this and so did the Isrealites when God told Moses he would talk to them himself, they told Moses....no,you listen to God and we will hear you. They didn't do that either. It is the same today.

Isayah 59:1-2—
1 Behold, Yahweh's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.
2 But YOUR OWN INIQUITIES HAVE SEPARATED YOUR FROM YOUR FATHER; and your own sins have caused Him to hide His face from you, so He will not listen.
Isayah 58:13-14—
13 If you turn away your foot from breaking the Sabbath: from doing your pleasure; your own works, your own pleasure, on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight; the holy day of Yahweh honorable, and will honor Him by not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor engaging in idle conversation:
14 Then you will find your joy in Yahweh; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Yaaqob your father__for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.
I Yahchanan 3:22—
And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His Laws and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
Yaaqob 2:10-12—
10 For whoever keeps the whole Law, and yet transgresses one Law, he is guilty of all.
11 For He Who said: Do not commit adultery, also said: Do not murder. Now if you do not commit adultery, yet you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the Law.
12 So speak, and so do, as those who are being judged by the Law of liberty__
I Yahchanan 4:1—
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, to see whether they are of Yahweh; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
I Yahchanan 3:24—
And he who keeps His Laws dwells in Him, and He in him; and by this we know that He abides in us: By the Word of Yahweh which He has given us.
Revelation 22:12-16—
12 And behold, I come quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work will be.
13 I am the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 Blessed are those who keep His Laws, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and worshipers of gods (elohim) and everyone who professes to love, yet practices breaking the Law.
16 I, Yahshua, have sent My malak to testify to you these things in the congregations of The House of Yahweh. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star.

Nothing! Separation from God is an illusion that we thought of with the help of Satan. "Nothing can separate you from the Love of God" is just a few of the truths in the Bible. Jesus became incarnate to prove to us that we are eternal beings, of God, and our purpose is simply to return home! Actually, its more like waking up! Ask yourself this question....If the Universe disappeared who and where would you be? The answer is with God and One with God. Your Flesh won't like this idea and will give you plenty of reasons why it cant be true......just like in the garden! If your identity is this body and this existence then I have one question for you.....Who told you that?

I think you have answered your own guest ion well.Sin separates man from God. That is why He sent His Son Jesus to die in our place. Thank-you Jesus.! Would it not be wonderful if we all practiced genuine Christianity. What a difference our world would see!

This is due to the handy work of Satan/Jinn/Devil and also human nature to follow their own desires rather than following the simple message of all the prophets that is to believe in ONLY ONE GOD in order to achieve the PURPOSE OF LIFE.

People are real and existing.
Gods are doubtful and unproven.
What separate them is man's imagination
Gods are made at man's image.
