There are many good hair straighteners on the market. GHD's were one of the first on the market and had the following qualities that made them an instant hit with the media and public alike:
1) Ceramic heating element that makes them heat up in seconds instead of minutes. GHD's also have a built-in microprocessor which conducts heat fast and retains it more successfully.
2) Ceramic plates not only glide smoothly through the hair but distribute the heat better.
There are cheaper alternatives on the market which are just as good like the Caprice (super model) and Hair Tools FHI. If money is no object then you won't go wrong with a GHD.
It should also be noted that some of the OLDER GHD's suffer from electrical problems that cause them to heat up even when switched off. Always unplug a hair straightener after use regardless of which brand you buy!

They are much more expensive... but there is a reason for that... they are the best ones on the market - everyone knows that. They are the quickest - others can take hours. Some of them use steam which make your hair frizzy. Other ceramic ones just don't do the job as well. They are small, light etc...
You won't find better ones. Your daughter will be disappointed with anything else - nothing works better. Honest. They are a fantastic investment.

They're fantastic. I have tried lots of different kinds of straighteners but nothing makes my hair as nice as ghd's. They use ion technology, which keeps the moisture in the hair, so as a result they don't ruin your hair with continued use. The opposite in fact- they make your hair look really healthy and shiny. If you look about, you can usually tell who uses them and who doesn't by the condition of their hair. I can't go anywhere without mine!

They're really good straigteners. I don't really know what it is about them that makes them better than all the rest but it must be the ceramaic plates or something. I have them and even if my hair gets a bit wet after straightening it stays straight whereas before with my old strighteners it would have gone frizzy

They get really hot so they straighten your hair amazingly.also they heat up to the maximum heat in about 5 seconds. i have curly hair and i didn't think they could be so good but they are.also if you go abroad you can take the british plug off and there is a euro/states plug underneath, not many people know that. if you buy a pair check out ebay coz u get them at a fraction of the price.....

buy two get one free? that's normally a good deal
it's because they have ceramic irons which means they heat up quicker and keep the heat longer but at the same time damage your hair less
