If it's been a week since the spots first showed up and you have had at least 2-3 crops of new dots break out- you can take heart that the worst is past you. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to make it pass more quickly- that is determined by your own immune system. Chicken pox is caused by the Herpes family of viruses and doesn't respond to the usual antibiotics. In fact, in the long run, it is probably better if you give yourself the time to recover without stressing your body any more than it already is. The chicken pox virus can come back to haunt you later in life as "shingles", if your body doesn't completely eliminate it now.
You want the spots to scab and dry as soon as they will. You can encourage this by using calamine lotion if it helps control the itch, dabs of alcohol directly on the spots that really drive you nuts, and staying cool. If you really need a break from the itch, a cool bath with baking soda and a handful of oatmeal can also sooth the skin. Wearing as little clothing as possible helps encourage drying of spots, and also is a bit more comfortable meantime. If you can get a product called Aveeno at the druggist, that is a nice soothing bath with oatmeal in it. The "old wives" also used to caution to stay out of direct sunlight while the spots were on the face, to help avoid scarring as well. Don't know that sunlight actually does anything, probably it just kept you from gettting overheated and sweaty, which would make you itch and spread the spots that broke. I wish I knew something better to tell you, but from the sounds of it you should be back out in public in another week with luck. And now I need to go scratch! Poor thing, my sympathies to you.

Going to the doctor and getting medication, but it will take some time but its a little quicker than not taking anything. I know how you feel I had it when I was 25yrs old and they are so irritating. But without the medication It would have taking me longer, so try going to the doctor to get something. Good Luck.

The best thing that you can do is to use calamine lotion to stop the irritation - all you can do is make sure that you do not scratch it because if you do you spread the virus - herpes.

It has a time to process, there is only things to aleviate the problem, but time is the only way.
But remember it is more contagious at the end, so do not spread it.

Use calamine lotion, then I think you pretty much have to sit it out.
Sorry! I hope you back to yourself real soon! Take care!

Calamine lotion works wonders. And DO NOT SCRATCH!! I have so many scars from scratching the bumps... the more you scratch the more it will itch, and the more it itches the more you scratch, so please don't scratch no matter how much it itches!
