I try to become smart by reading lots of books but my IQ won't increase by a deimal point. I'm really jealous of geniuses all round the world making their mark. I can't concentrate either and have a really bad memory too.& i'm just 19! My ambition is to be a writer I've got tons of ideas but horrible writing skills. Tell me what can I do to become smart.

I'm currently pursuing a degree in English Literature.I really want to be a writer but I don't want someone to ghost-write for me. My biggest problem is that I forget a lot so reading is basically useless for me.

If you want to be a writer but are not pleased with your writing skills you could always dictate to somebody and they could put the book together for ya.I also want to be a writer.I write poetry and I'm finding it hard to switch to novel mode as I'm used to short snappy sentences.I don't know if there's any way to become smarter but start by being kind to yourself.Tell yourself what you are good at and say that you have many years for improvement in the areas you're not happy with.God you'r eonly 19.I'm sure of it that you will publish a book and a damn good one at that

Take some night classes in writing, English and composition. This should help you out, if you didn't learn the foundation for writing, it's hard to do spontaneously.
Of course your only 19, go on to college. Everyone is smarter after college because the more you study, the smarter you are. Even if it is one class at a time.

I am 65 and have recently felt as if mentally, I was galloping straight into senility.

For the past month or so, I have been taking my vitamins, many minerals and supplements. My mental faculties are enormously better. My diet is pretty good but not perfect. So either improve your diet or take a good high potency multivitamin every day. The B vitamins are VERY VERY helpful.

Your health is number one and your vitamin and mineral intake is the key to your brain power. Do some research and learn what will help your mental faculties.

I too have mediocre writing skills and have thought of taking classes since I just never learned them. Excellent grammar and English is key also absolutely necessary.

Good Luck.

IQ has nothing to do with knowledge and if you want to be a writer you need knowledge of the world not a high IQ. Get a book on english grammar and take a creative writing course. Reading books DOES help but try to read to boost your literary skills not just for enjoyment, and try to read non-fiction as well as fiction. Why not think about doing a degree in English or A-level if you don't already have one. To help with memory try getting a book to help, try "The memory doctor" by Spencer Smith.

Listen! Don't call yourself stupid! Stupid people are ones that don't apply there selves. It sounds to me like you just need to keep at it, like one of the other answers I had read. You've got that determination! Don't put yourself down by saying your stupid! Stupid people are the ones who go threw life like duh,I'm here and I'm going to do what ever I want when I want! Those people usually wind up in jail or getting there *** kicked allot or cutting people off when they're driving while on a cell phone! So, if you don't fall into any of those categories then your doing pretty good....Good luck with your career, you can be what ever your heart desires. So,don't you give up!Also remember that nobody is perfect, and yes some things do come more naturally to others but if it doesn't we have to work on what ever that may be.

19 is still young enough to keep reading and learning. I know someone that learned how to ski from a book. Maybe you're reading the wrong books. Harlequin Romances will not raise your IQ. From what I know, you do not have to be smart to write a book. You just need to know how to put words together and use grammar check and spell check. Always have other people read and correct your writing. Good Luck!

you are that which you are. Trying to change yourself will do you no good. Maybe your goals are either too much or vanity ? How about doing something that MATTERS and is really important. Find out the truth behind the Bible, how you can get truly saved and what happends if you don't. Do you really want to become a writter ? Extricate yourself from this "game of life" and do something DIFFERENT than those so called "geniuses". Something that, to God, is more precious than anything else, the trial of your faith on "the narrow way that leadeth unto life"

Do it and prosper in God's wisdom, ignore it and remain a fool.

Truly stupid people have no idea they are stupid. Gosh, have you watched any of the political commercials lately?

Instead of writing your ideas, try dictating them first. Or consider the possibility that writing is not your calling. What else talks to your heart?

People often think good sense and intelligence are the same, they are not. The fact that you have a goal you reach for takes you far from stupid.

Believe in yourself. Who in your past told you you were stupid. Is it really true? Or do you just think you are? You know the thoughts that you are thinking right now are creating your future. So do you want to continue to think that you are stupid and you can't learn? Or do you want to except the fact that you are smart? You are only19 years old! You have a life time ahead of you to increase your IQ score. Just keep on reading, writing, and knowing that you are smart. I guarantee you will become "smart." Don't be so hard on yourself....
