This could mean a few things. He should see a doctor, because colds are really dangerous for newborns. They can lead to SIDS. Sudden Infant Death due to suffication. You are right to be concerned, you need to see a doctor. Get a infant nasal suction from the pharmacy in the meantime, or a use a small medicine dropper to sunction out nasal passages.

Using an aspirator would help. Are you sure it is phlegm? It could be a bigger problem. At 7 days old you have probably already seen the doctor last week and will be going again this week...make sure that your child's doctor is aware of this problem. If you do not have an appointment (this would be weird since when I had my newborn she had to go every week for the first month.) then make one. Be on the safe side.

Oh i does no longer attempt that. you could carry out a little severe injury in case you don't be attentive to what you're doing. i'm questioning if there wasn't any mucous left interior the chest from beginning? now and back if infants come too quickly they don't get each and all of the gunk squeezed out of their chest (particular there's a reason for that tight beginning canal and sluggish passage! they could be tachypnic (sp?). attempt to place your ear to toddler's chest and see in case you pay attention wheezing or a rattle. somewhat sprits of saline water interior the nostril with toddler upright will soften and launch mucous. i could be very carefull suctioning it out as i've got heard of mothers inflicting nosebleeds in no longer doing that top. i might have the toddler's chest listened to via a doctor and confirm no fluids or something stay in the back of which will reason a issue.

When is his follow up appointment? U might want to take him in a little earlier. It's a little early for the poor kid to have a cold already.
