Hmmm Very interesting question. The answer would lie in additional information. As stated above. They are 2 different styles of fighting. If the knight is in fully battle armor, Mounted on a horse maybe. The knight doesnt move very fast (Weight restrictions) The Samurai is more mobile and agile. The Knights sword is heavier than the Samurai. Samurai for the most part though did not empoy Ninjas as they were thought to be less than honorable. The reason that there are no recorded battles was because Japan was only concerned with Japan (and China) They had no concern for Europe which they thought were full of uncivilized people.
Straight up in an even matchup I would have to go with the Knight only because of the Armor and heavier sword. It would be close as the Samurai has speed and agility and no fear of death.

I would put my money on the Samurai.
Not only are they physically trained but also mentally trained as well, I think the Samurai would beat the knight with his eyes closed.
But it does depend....
The samurai can spend a whole life in training and preparation while the knight... well I don't know "that" much about knights. ^_^'
If the knight was on horse back with the lance the samurai would just take him down with his bow and arrow... What some people don't know is samurai are more well known because of their Marksmanship rather than their sword training.

On the batlefield and if they are correcly employed the knights will win. But the samuray could probebly launch a sneek attack when the knights arent ready. Plus they could send in some ninjas! Good question anyway! Johan

Depends. Is the knight fully armored with heavey armor or fighting on the ground in light armor. I think a Knight on horseback with his lance would make short work of the Samuri. But, then we might also consider the Samuri's martial arts training. Dang this could be a heck of a fight.

ive always been a fan of how a samurai fights his battle. A samurai with katana needs to find gaps within's a knight's plate armor to have a decent chance of winning.
But i think the samurai might just edge it due to his perfectionist style of using the sword.

if we are talking about the same level of experience, then samuria will beat knight. Because, knights are heavy warriors, they are strong as a team while samuria is strong alone. If we talk about team of knights againts team of samurias, i think knights would beat them.

you must look at their level of training and experience.. i would go for samurais though, their technique and agility are highly lethal.
