Of course. All of mankind is capable of deceit. Just because he's a preacher, doesn't make him immune to lying. One would certainly HOPE that a man of the cloth would never lie, but history has proven us wrong time & again.

Yes they can lie. If they are lieing about the word of God then you need to read the bible for yourself. I am a Baptist and my husband works for a baptist preacher and we have some differences about what the bible says.
1. He believes men can't be called to preach if the wife has been married before which is my case. But I wasn't saved when I was married all three times till March 4, 1999 in my 3rd marriage. And if Jesus forgives all sin and does not remember them no more then who is anyone to say God cannot call my husband to preach.
2. He believes women are kind of lower than the man and kind of treats his wife mean in ways. Not like hitting her or anything, its the way he talks about her. Like I am man of this house and you do what I say. Well the greatest command is on the man to love his wife and Christ loved the church. He should give 100% and she should give 100%. A marriage is not about I am head of the home and you will do as I say. Head of the home means you look to your wife as well on decisions you make. A wife is to be a helpmeet well that means to me she helps in all things.
Some preachers don't lie on purpose, but maybe cause of the way they was taught they might believe like this preacher did. Always read the bible for yourself.

some might knowingly do so but mostly they repeat error that they themselves believed. Some are very jarful and only make an occasional mistake. You can tell a good preacher by the fact that he will tell you to check him out in the Bible and if they are for the most part expository preachers.

He or she could and would. Use your own common sense on most things if what the preacher said sounds wrong, it probably is, at least for you.
Preachers are not really properly trained to help you in many areas, and for serious problems, professionals should be consulted.

The word "preacher" is the definition of liar. Because there are no such things as gods, everything they say on behalf of this made-up entity has to be a lie.

The better question would be "Would a preacher ever tell me the truth?".And the answer is harder to find then many might think.

A preacher is human and even though we would like to think they would be above that, it is possible.
